Anaheim Fire & Rescue’s Station 4 has some spiffy new turnout storage lockers, courtesy of a grant totaling nearly $9,000.

Brown & Brown partnered with Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. to award the $8,903 grant to AF&R, which on June 23 showed off what the money paid for: turnout lockers used to store the protective, fire-resistant clothing firefighters wear when responding to incidents.

“We are extremely grateful to Brown & Brown and Fireman’s Fund for this grant,” Anaheim Fire & Rescue Chief Randy Bruegman said. “This grant has allowed us to install 20 modular steel-framed turnout lockers to better organize our firefighters’ equipment. Every effort made to minimize our response time is more opportunity to serve our residents.”

Anaheim Fire & Rescue officials, firefighters and executives from Brown & Brown and Fireman’s Fund attended the special grant presentation June 23 at Fire Station No. 4.

Fireman's Fund Brown & Brown Grant

Funded by Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, the grant is part of a nationwide philanthropic program.

Founded in 1863 with a social mission to support the fire service, Fireman’s Fund today awards grants to fire service organizations for life-saving equipment, firefighter training and community education programs.

Since 2004, Fireman’s Fund has awarded grants to more than 2,100 different organizations totaling more than $31 million — including $9 million in California.

Independent insurance agencies and brokers that sell Fireman’s Fund products, like Brown & Brown, are able to direct these grants to support the fire service.

Through this program, Brown & Brown has directed over $1 million in grants to fire departments nationwide.

“With limited budgets, fire departments are often prevented from replacing existing equipment or systems such as these outdated turnout lockers,” said Tim Casey of Brown & Brown. “We’re proud to be able to support Anaheim Fire & Rescue in such a meaningful way.”
