Westminster Police Department and officers and deputies from surrounding agencies are gearing up to head north.
Their yearly Memorial Bike Ride to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty is coming up in May. The department is raising funds leading up to the event, with proceeds going directly to the families of lost loved ones.
The five-day bike ride is set to start on Tuesday, May 17, when a group of nearly 30 riders will ride their bikes to Sacramento to pay tribute.
Westminster Police Department has been riding for the cause for 10 years, and this year marks an especially special time for the Orange County area. Fallen Officer Nick Vella from the Huntington Beach Police Department will be honored on this year’s ride during the stretch from Seal Beach to Westminster as the riders make their way back to the station on Saturday, May 21.
Fellow officers, families, and friends will be at the station to welcome the crew back home.
