After a short car chase, Fullerton Police officers nabbed an Anaheim man suspected of being the so-called “Quad Bandit,” who has allegedly committed 10 different bank robberies throughout Orange County.
The incident began Thursday afternoon after Brea Police responded to a robbery at the Bank of the West at 311 State College and alerted neighboring police agencies that the robber had driven away from the area.
Fullerton officers were in the area and located the car on Chapman Avenue and Raymond Street. A chase began and the robber sped north on Raymond before crashing into a curb on Skyline Drive. Fullerton police arrested 47-year-old Jonathan Oechsle and he was taken into custody by Brea Police.
“Our officers were in the right place at the right time,” said Fullerton Police PIO Sgt. Kathryn Hamel. “Because of their quick action, a potential serial bank robber has been arrested.”
After the arrest, OC Sheriff Lt. Jeff Hallock said Oechsle was interviewed by members of the Bank Robbery Apprehension Team task force, a partnership between the Sheriff and the FBI. The task force believes that Oechsle may be responsible for as many as 10 robberies, Hallock said.
