Trading one super hero uniform for another, a Texas cop paid his respects to a family mourning the loss of a 5-year-old boy when he showed up to the boy’s funeral as Spider-Man.

Forth Worth Police Officer Damon Cole earlier this month was first to respond to reports of missing 5-year-old Joshua Garcia, KTLA News reported.

When Cole arrived, Joshua’s mother was frantically searching for the boy and Cole noticed a murky pool in the backyard that had little visibility due to debris and dirt clouding the water.

Cole dove in the pool and found Joshua at the bottom, KTLA reported.

The veteran cop tried to revive the little boy, who was wearing a Spider-Man T-shirt and shoes, but it was too late.

Several days later, Joshua’s family learned Cole volunteers for a Dallas-based group of law enforcement officers who dress as superheroes and visit children to lift their spirits.

The boy’s family asked if the officer would attend Joshua’s service dressed as the boy’s favorite Marvel character.

Cole wrote a letter to the little boy on Facebook that read, in part: “You touched my life the day I found you. I think of you every second of the day and how I wish so badly I could have saved you. You will always be with me in my heart until the day I am taken from this earth. ”
