Authorities are searching for the driver of a light-colored SUV or truck, who reportedly struck and killed a man in a wheelchair in the 2600 block of Orangethorpe Avenue and fled the scene late Monday night, according to Fullerton police.
The driver of the vehicle reportedly took off westbound on Orangethorpe Avenue toward Magnolia Boulevard.
The identity of the deceased man is being withheld pending confirmation from the Orange County Coroner’s Office, however, Fullerton police believe he is the same man who had been struck in that same location in March of this year and also hit by a vehicle in Buena Park in March of 2008.
Police determined at that time that the man had been drinking prior to both accidents.
The vehicle has been described as a light-colored SUV or pick-up truck with a camper shell. The investigation is on-going and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Fullerton police investigator H. Rios at (714) 738-6812.
Those wishing to provide information anonymously can call the Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1(855) TIP-OCCS or to their website at www.crimestoppers.org.
