Garden Grove police are looking for three suspects who early Monday morning used a rope tied to a van’s tow hitch to rip the doors off a liquor store, which they then proceeded to relieve of several thousand California State Lottery “Scratchers” tickets.

The commercial burglary occurred at 4:46 a.m. May 16 at Hanshaw Liquors, 10971 Westminster Ave., the GGPD said in a news release Monday afternoon.

Two suspects seen on surveillance video are described as males, unknown age, wearing dark clothing and hooded sweatshirts that obscured their faces.

A description of the third suspect, the driver of a 1990s’ faded red/maroon Chevy Astro van with custom aftermarket rims, was not available.

The suspects backed up to the front door of the closed liquor store, police said.

Two men exited the van and tied the rope to the front doors of the business and then to the tow hitch.

The driver then pulled forward, pulling the doors off the hinges.

The first scratchers were claimed at 8 a.m. Monday morning from a convenience store in Compton and then Lynwood, the GGPD said.

During the burglary, several pedestrians and unrelated motorists could be seen passing by. Anyone with information regarding the burglary, or if they recognize the van or suspects, is urged to call the GGPD. Callers may remain anonymous. Please contact Det.
