The Anaheim PD arrested a suspected bank robber after a nearly one-hour standoff Monday morning inside a Wells Fargo bank.
The drama began 9:09 a.m. June 27 when an employee at the branch, in the 1600 block of N. Raymond Avenue, made a 911 call about a possible bank robbery in progress.
Employees reported a male had entered the bank and demanded money from a teller.
Several employees were inside the bank at the time and secured themselves in the rear of the business while watching the suspect over closed-circuit video cameras and updating responding officers to the suspect’s location and actions, the APD said in a news release Monday afternoon.
APD officers established a perimeter and ordered the suspect to exit the bank. He refused and barricaded himself inside for nearly 45 minutes.
At 9:55 a.m., the suspect exited via the front doors and was immediately taken into custody without incident.
He has been identified as Pablo Arteaga, 22, of Anaheim.
Arteaga did not possess a weapon and did not obtain any money from the bank.
The motive for the robbery is under investigation.
Arteaga was booked at the Anaheim Detention Facility for commercial burglary and robbery. He is being held on $50,000 bail.
