For months, Rochester police officers and kids from the northeast side have played pick-up basketball games whenever the officers were in the neighborhood.

After weeks of playing with a basketball hoop that was falling apart, the officers secretly pooled their money together to buy the kids a new hoop, according to TWC News.

On the first day of summer, the kids from 1st street were in for a surprise.

The officers paraded down the street with flashing lights and sirens from their police cars to deliver the new hoop.

Daymeir Cain, 12, told TWC News they love playing with the officers: “It’s fun because we all get to verse them because we’re all basketball players and we get to show them our skills.”
