A man with outstanding warrants for attempted murder and several other charges was arrested by Fullerton police after being suspected of inappropriately interacting with children in a park.
At 9:58 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, officers were called to a park in the 300 block of North Pomona Avenue regarding a transient inappropriately touching children with a plastic flower.
Officers arrested Jacob Kells, 39, on suspicion of child annoyance and discovered he had arrest warrants in Monterey County for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, assaulting and resisting a peace officer, possession of a stolen vehicle, and felony evading causing great bodily injury.
Children were in the park playing Pokémon Go on their smartphones when they were made aware of Kells by another group of gamers also playing the Pokémon Go game on their devices.
Kells was detained by gamers, and witnesses detained Kells until officers arrived.
None of the children were physically harmed during their interactions with Kells, who was transported to the Orange County Jail and will be extradited back to Monterey County.
