Behind the Badge
Two robberies occurred within a half hour of each other in Garden Grove on Monday night, with the armed suspects getting away with cell phones and other items from the victims, the Garden Grove PD said in a news release Tuesday.
The suspects remain at large.
In the first incident, at 9:28 p.m. Oct. 10, GGPD officers were dispatched to the 14000 block of Euclid Street. They found a male victim who stated he was sitting inside of his vehicle waiting for his girlfriend to get off work.
While waiting, two suspects entered his car and robbed him at gunpoint, according to the news release. The suspects fled on foot and got away with the victim’s iPhone 6 and other items.
Shortly after, at 9:57 p.m., GGPD officers were dispatched to the 13500 block of Shirley Street. They contacted a male victim who stated he was in the area after agreeing to meet up with an unknown individual to purchase an iPhone 7.
The victim arrived and met the subject, described as a male white or light-skinned Hispanic, late teens with short curly brown hair.
While speaking with the subject about the transaction, the victim noticed three additional suspects standing behind him wearing dark clothing and “zombie” masks.
Two of the suspects were seen holding handguns and one was holding a shotgun.
The suspects then fled on foot.
The subject that met the victim fled the scene with the iPhone 7 and the victim’s money that he brought to purchase the phone with.
No one was injured in either incident.
The investigations are ongoing.
