Five-year-old Brayden Dieringer had his heart set on being a police officer for Halloween so two Ontario officers helped the young boy take the plans for his costume to another level.
Two OPD officers and a civilian designed and built a mini police car around Brayden’s wheelchair. Emblazoned with Buena Park PD’s logo as a nod to the boy’s father, who is a sergeant with Buena Park PD, Brayden was gifted him the new ride Oct. 25.
Brayden was diagnosed in 2015 with Perthes disease, a childhood disorder that affects the head of the femur, and is temporarily in a wheelchair, NBC7 reported.
The boy’s mother told NBC7 last year he was pulled in a wagon to trick-or-treat around his neighborhood, but was discouraged after a few houses and wanted to go home.
His family was determined to make it fun for him this year, and when the Ontario PD caught wind of the 5-year-old’s wish they jumped at the chance to help.
The car is made out of cardboard and wood and it easily wraps around and attaches to the wheelchair. The hood of the car opens to collect candy.
