A 71-year-old woman was hit and killed while crossing the street in Westminster Friday morning.
Police at about 8:30 a.m. responded to reports of an injury collision at Bolsa Avenue and Magnolia Street after a car struck a woman in the crosswalk, police said.
When officers and medics arrived, the woman was injured, but responsive. She was taken to the hospital in what police said appeared to be serious but stable condition.
Later that night, the woman died from her injuries, police said.
Police said the driver stayed at the scene and was cooperative with investigators. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have played a role in the crash, and no charges have been filed at this time, police said.
The victim was identified as Hoa Thi Duong, of Westminster.
“Based on the scene and witnesses, we believe some sort of right-of-way violation occurred at the crosswalk,” said Westminster PD Cmdr. Cameron Knauerhaze. “Both vehicles and pedestrians have a duty to look out for each other and watch the traffic lights for direction.”
Westminster PD Traffic Division, along with the Orange County Coroner’s Office, continue to investigate the collision and ask anyone with information to contact 714-548-3777.
