15-year-old drowns at home party in Garden Grove

A small gathering ended in tragedy Saturday night when a 15-year-old male drowned.

Police responded to the drowning at around 8:27 p.m. at a home in the 11500 block of Desmond Street, according to a news release from the Garden Grove PD.

Police say the victim, a male, at some point could not be found at the party. Friends began to check the backyard and found him at the bottom of the pool.

The victim was pulled from the pool by a 17-year-old female and Garden Grove Fire Department personnel treated him upon their arrival.

The teenager was transported to Garden Grove Medical Center where he continued to receive treatment.

At 9:30 p.m., however, he was pronounced dead.

The incident is under investigation by the Garden Grove Police Department and the Orange County Coroner’s Office.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notifications.
