The Fullerton PD is looking for a man who shot a male pedestrian Wednesday night following an altercation in downtown Fullerton. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the chest but is expected to survive, the FPD said in a news release Thursday.
The incident occurred at around 9:52 p.m. April 26 in the area of Malden Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue. After arriving on the scene, officers found a 24-year-old male with one gunshot wound to the chest. He immediately was transported to a local trauma center.
An initial investigation indicates that the man was walking down the street when he was approached by two males who arrived in an unknown type of vehicle.
The two males, who were unknown to the victim, exited the vehicle and an altercation took place. One of the suspects produced a handgun and fired a single shot, striking the victim in the chest.
The suspects then entered the vehicle and fled in an unknown direction.
The victim was unable to provide a description of the suspects to police.
“The area of Malden and Santa Fe is a busy area, especially during this time of night,” the news release said. “Investigators believe there could be numerous witnesses to this crime that have not yet come forward to provide witness statements.”
