Behind the Badge
Teens and young adults ages 14 to 20 who want to learn about a career as a dispatcher are invited to attend an open house Thursday, Oct. 16 at the Metro Cities Fire Authority, commonly known at Metro Net.
The information meeting at 7 p.m. at Metro Net offices, 201 S. Anaheim Blvd., Suite 302 in Anaheim, will discuss the Public Safety Explorer Post, a career education program that highlights job opportunities in public safety communications.
Explorers learn how to provide life-saving instructions, coordinate resources for first responders during local, state and federal emergencies, use two-way radios and a computer aided dispatch (CAD) system to relay critical information to first responders in the field, and also learn how to work on site during a disaster.
