Westminster PD officers were quick to respond to a call for gunshots on Oct. 28 at about 1:30 a.m. at the Bleu Restaurant & Dancing, where two men were found with gunshot wounds, according to Commander Cameron Knauerhaze.

“The first officer was on scene within about 30 seconds,” he said.

On Nov. 2, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office charged Minh Quang Tran, 40, of Santa Ana, with felony counts of murder and assault with a firearm. He faces a maximum sentence of 64 years to life in state prison if convicted, according to an OCDA news release. Hung Khac Chau, 46, of Fountain Valley, was charged with accessory after the fact and faces a maximum sentence of three years in county jail if convicted.

According to the release, 53-year-old Huy P. was shot in the head and taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead from the gunshot wound. John Doe, 47, was shot in the lower part of his body and survived his injuries.

The WPD arrested Chau on Oct. 31 at his Fountain Valley home and Tran on Nov. 2 at his Santa Ana residence.

“It was a busy location with a lot of witnesses that may have seen something,” said Knauerhaze. “It’s still an ongoing case.”
