Behind the Badge
The Queen Mary in Long Beach is offering firefighters a free ticket to its seasonal ice park, CHILL — a holiday thank you to Southern California firefighters for all the work they do.
“We wanted to find a way to show our appreciation for the unwavering support and dedication of our local firefighters during these past weeks and current days,” Dan Zaharoni, chief development officer for Urban Commons, the current Queen Mary leaseholder, said in a statement. “We know many towns and houses have been lost, but many more have been saved due to the work of these amazing men and women.”
CHILL offers family-friendly activities including live music, Rockettes-style performances, fireworks, choreographed light shows, food and more. It is a 38,000-square-foot ice park celebrating international food and culture, including traditions of Germany, Switzerland, China, Russia, Holland, and even the North Pole.
From now through the event’s close on Jan. 7, firefighters can show their badge at the CHILL ticketing booth for a free Grand Expedition pass, and up to 50 percent off Grand Expedition passes for their families.
Grand Expedition tickets include ice skating and skate rental fee, ice tubing on CHILL’S 145-foot Matterhorn Mountain, access to live entertainment, admission aboard The Queen Mary and a 4D theater holiday movie.
