K9 demonstrations, a tour of the police department, and free hot dogs while supplies last.

These are just a few reasons to attend the Tustin Police Department’s 22nd annual open house on Saturday, June 16, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., agency officials say.

As TPD Chief Charlie Celano said at last year’s open house: “It’s another way for us to engage our community to humanize our police officers and bridge that gap. We’re so blessed in Tustin to have such a supportive community.”

The 2018 event will be held in the TPD’s parking lot at 300 Centennial Way.

The open house is free and family friendly.

In addition to the K9 demos and station tours, there will be games for kids (bounce houses, face painting, and a treasure hunt), demonstrations by motorcycle officers, SWAT, and the fire department.

Visitors also can meet members of the TPD’s new GRADE (Gang Reduction and Directed Enforcement) unit.

Also in attendance will be several other public and private organizations, including The Tierney Center for Veteran Services, Get Safe, Orange County Animal Care, the Auto Club, and the Orange County Health Care Agency.

On the day of the open house, the American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Walk-ups for blood donations will be accepted, but if you wish to make an appointment online or for more information, go to redcrossblood.org and use sponsor code TustinPD.
