Pasadena Police Department raises funds for Ronald McDonald House with holiday craft and competition

Who doesn’t like a healthy dose of competition? Especially when it comes wrapped in holiday cheer, tinsel and raises money for a local nonprofit.

In the spirit of the season, the Pasadena Police Department held a “Holiday Door Decoration Contest” to raise money for the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House. Participants at the PD paid a $20 entry fee and got to work with their craft scissors, glue sticks and holiday spirit.

There were 13 door entries and four winners were selected by Police Chief John Perez, Elizabeth Devor, and Hilary Manners from the Ronald McDonald House.

Some of the entries included music that matched the theme of the door, a naughty and nice list, a cozy log in the fire video, cookies, police puns  and a poem aptly titled “The Night before Christmas, when all through Old Town.”

“This is by far one of the most festive holiday seasons our Police Department has had in a long time,” said Police Chief Perez. “This contest reminded us of the spirit of the season and also allowed us to connect with our local nonprofit. It’s a really busy time for all of us at Pasadena PD, but our employees really got into this and it was nice to see.”

The sections that participated, include: Records, Jail, Community Services, Explorers, Pal Program, Event Planning, Internal Affairs, Finances, Forensics and the Chief’s Office.

Best Overall Door: Community Services Section (Yadira Sanchez )

Most Clever Door: Property Section

Most Decorative: Dispatch (Whoville)

Coziest Door: Professional Standards Section

Best Themed Door: Jail (The Nightmare before Christmas)
