Police arrested a 23-year-old woman Friday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence, hitting a pedestrian and leaving the scene.
Officers at nearly 1 a.m. Friday, April 24, received reports of a pedestrian staggering around and walking into traffic near Beach Boulevard and Bishop Place, police said.
When officers arrived a few minutes later, they found the man lying in one of the northbound lanes of Beach Boulevard.
A second call then came in from a driver who said they watched the suspect hit the pedestrian then leave the scene, police said. The driver told police he was following the suspect’s vehicle.
Police responded and stopped the suspect, who showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol, police said.
Tonez Hunter Seja, of Buena Park, was arrested on suspicion of felony drunken driving and felony hit and run.
The pedestrian was taken to UCI Medical Center, where he is being treated.
