La Habra to host a socially-distant 4th of July

The COVID 19 pandemic won’t prevent La Habra residents from enjoying a star-spangled Fourth of July fireworks show.

The festivities will actually get underway at about 8:50 p.m. on July 3rd when the city will fire a series of test shots, giving residents the chance to scope out the best spot to view the real fireworks show on July 4.

At about 2:30 p.m. (times will vary based on flyover in neighboring cities) on 4^th of July, La Habra residents can enjoy a flyover featuring a C-47 World War II transport plane and two smaller planes roaring over the city from the southwest. The flyover is a collaboration between the cities of La Habra, Orange, and Buena Park and a partnership with Lion Air Museum and Air Combat USA.

The fireworks show will begin at about 8:50 p.m. from La Bonita Park, however the public will not be allowed into the park during the show.  

According to Lt. Dan Henderson from La Habra Police Department, La Bonita Park will be closed to the public, this includes no picnics or activities will be allowed.

 “We’re advising everyone to stay socially distant,” Recreation Manager David DeLeon said.

The City of La Habra also partnered with Titan Radio Station, California State University, Fullerton’s college radio station to host a special 4^th of July streaming channel to share with residents on their smartphone or tablet while they watch the firework show.
