A 58-year-old man from Victorville was killed Tuesday morning in Garden Grove when police say a car struck him as he was crossing a street on a bicycle against a red light.

The man, whose name has not been released pending notification of his relatives, was struck at 8:58 a.m. July 14 while moving west across Euclid Street at Century Boulevard when a female motorist driving south on Euclid struck him in the intersection, according to a Garden Grove PD news release.

The woman, driving a silver 2013 Nissan Versa, hit the bicyclist after he moved from the east curb. A preliminary investigation concluded that the motorist, who remained at the scene of the accident, had the green light, according to the news release.

The bicyclist was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange where he died from his injuries, police said.
