It was a bad time for their close-ups.
A trio of men suspected of several burglaries in Orange and Los Angeles counties are in custody at Orange County Jail after Garden Grove police, with the help of a helicopter from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, caught them on video leaving a house they are accused of ransacking.
Garden Grove Police officers, responding to calls from residents of several suspicious men going into the backyard of a home around 8:30 p.m. Monday night, spotted the suspects and asked for an assist from above from OCSD —along with a police dog from the Cypress PD.
In dramatic video footage shot from the helicopter, the suspects can be seen carrying “large amounts”of personal property from the home, according to a news release from the Garden Grove PD.
The suspects, realizing they’d been spotted, attempted to flee. One of them bolted down a street but ran into two officers and was arrested. Another fled into a nearby backyard and tried to hide but was quickly apprehended; the other was arrested in the garage of another home after the K9 helped sniff him out.
Cartier Quemoyreelus Anderson, 20; Deepre Lamar Williams, 19; and Patreall Daijon Williams, 18, were arrested on suspicion of burglary, attempted burglary and auto theft. Garden Grove police officers are working with other law enforcement agencies to confirm whether the men, as suspected, are part of a prolific crew responsible for many other break-ins. All of the property suspected of being stolen was found on the suspects, police said.
“The Garden Grove Police Department is very thankful for the assistance of Cypress PD and the Orange County Sheriff’s helicopter,”Garden Grove Police spokesman Lt. Ben Stauffer said. “Without them, this incident would have been much more difficult to bring to a safe and successful conclusion.”
