A parolee suspected of fatally stabbing a 39-year-old man at a Tustin park last month has been charged with first degree murder.
Tustin police at about 3:15 p.m. on Aug. 18 responded to reports of a man bleeding in the 14200 block of Red Hill Avenue.
Police and Orange County Fire Authority officials found Robert Carranza had been stabbed and started first aid procedures.
Carranza was taken to a local hospital where he later died, police said.
Police determined Carranza was stabbed at Frontier Park, then ran to a nearby business for help.
Investigators located the suspect and arrested him at 12:15 a.m. on Aug. 26 in Riverside County.
Robert Jesus Wilson, 51, of Tustin was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Police said in a statement Wilson has an extensive criminal history, which includes arrests for assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats.
Wilson was on parole when he allegedly stabbed Carranza, police said.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday filed charges against Wilson. He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail, police said.
