Anaheim Fire & Rescue and the Anaheim Police Department will host this year’s annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony to honor those who perished on that day.
Residents, first responders, active and retired military personnel and visitors are invited to attend the ceremony, starting at 9 a.m. at the Grand Plaza of the Anaheim Convention Center.
Parking is free. Attendees are asked to park in Convention Center Car Park 2, which is accessible from either Katella Avenue or Harbor Boulevard from Hotel Way.
A presentation of colors will be performed by a joint honor guard of the Anaheim PD, followed by opening comments from Police Chief Raul Quezada, Mayor Tom Tait and Fire Chief Randy Bruegman. This will be followed by a choral performance from Loara High School and a reading of the Last Bell Ceremony.
Quezada, Bruegman together with the Anaheim City Council will present a ceremonial wreath in a display of respect to those who lost their lives.
“It is difficult to believe that 14 years have passed since that dark day in September,” Bruegman said. “We must always remember the courage and sacrifice that was demonstrated by so many on that day and the days which followed.”
Said Quezada: “We must never forget the events of 2001. This ceremony is to remember and honor those who lost their life on Sept. 11, 2001.”
