Police find woman, 72, who wandered away from treatment facility

Police employees and volunteers worked together Monday to help find a 72-year-old woman who wandered away from a rehabilitation facility.

The woman was reported missing from the facility in the 2800 block of N. Harbor Ave. about 10 a.m.

Officers and senior volunteers coordinated with dispatchers and traffic employees to find the woman near a car wash about an hour later.

Sgt. Kathryn Hamel encouraged people with family members who suffer from dementia, Alzheimer’s and other medical issues to register with the Police Department’s Return Home Registry.
