USA Today, along with several other media outlets, will be hosting live coverage of the funeral services for Dallas Police Sr. Cpl. Lorne Ahrens, 48, and Dallas Area Rapid Transit Officer Brent Thompson, 43, today in Dallas.
Ahrens, known affectionately among his colleagues as “Meat,” will be remembered in a 9 a.m. service at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.
Officers said Thompson died in an attempt to save Ahrens.
Thompson, who was married just two weeks before his death to a fellow DART officer, will be remember in a ceremony at the Potter’s House in Dallas, which is underway now. He is the first DART officer killed in the line of duty, police said
