Fullerton Police on Wednesday arrested a 35-year-old man suspected of two sexual assaults at Fullerton College that occurred within minutes of one another.
At about 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the college regarding reports of the two sexual assaults, which both occurred along a walkway on campus that runs east-west between the 1100 and 1300 buildings and 100 and 300 buildings.
Both female victims were groped in their crotch area by the unknown male, who then fled, police said.
The suspect was described as a male in his 20s, possibly Asian, about 5-feet, 7-inches tall, 160 pounds, with a cropped beard.
At 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, FPD officers were dispatched to Fullerton College regarding an Asian man who was being detained by Campus Safety for behaving erratically.
Campus Safety officers noticed that the man matched the description of the suspect wanted in the sexual assaults from the day before.
FPD officers contacted the male, who was displaying signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
FPD detectives also responded to the college and after further investigation, the man was positively identified as the suspect responsible for the sexual assaults the day before.
Detectives then arrested the man, who was wearing a blue plaid short-sleeved button shirt, gray jeans and black tennis shoes.
“Because of the ongoing nature of this investigation, the suspect’s name and photograph will not be released at this time in order to be able to properly, thoroughly and thoughtfully investigate any other crimes that this suspect may also be responsible for committing,” Sgt. Jon Radus said.
The FPD is encouraging anyone who believes they may have been victimized by this suspect, based on the above description, to contact Family Crimes Sergeant J. Ema at 714-738-6580.
