Monday was a productive night for a Fullerton police officer who started his shift by arresting suspected car thieves and later captured a sex offender who had removed an ankle bracelet that monitors his whereabouts.
The action began to unfold about 5 p.m., as Officer Tim Haid and his partner, K9 Rotar, were on their way to work.
He ran the plate of a Honda Civic and discovered it had been reported stolen out of Anaheim. With an assist from Anaheim PD, Haid arrested the occupants – a man and woman – on the westbound 91 Freeway near Euclid Avenue.
Several hours later, about 11:30 p.m., Haid located a 60-year-old registered sex offender, who was wanted by his probation officer for removing his monitoring device, police said.
“It’s a good day at work when you’ve caught an alleged criminal before your shift officially begins,” said Sgt. Jeff Stuart. “All around great job by Haid and several officers who assisted him in both cases.”
