The Anaheim PD is sponsoring a “Cops 4 A-Cure” blood and bone marrow registry drive this Thursday, April 12, to benefit pediatric cancer patients at the City of Hope.

Participants at the event, to be held from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Anaheim Central Library, 500 W. Broadway, will receive a barbecue lunch and entry into a raffle.

There also is an option for people to show up and only buy lunch and/or raffle tickets, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the City of Hope’s Pediatric Oncology Unit to help save lives. Tickets are $5 per ticket or five tickets for $20.

Raffle prizes include a 50” Vizio Smart TV, Anaheim Angels suite tickets, free nightly stays at hotels, VIP tickets to a House of Blues concert of your choice, tickets to Universal Studios and Medieval Times, autographed Angels and Ducks memorabilia, and more.

Sgt. Daniel Gonzalez of the APD’s Central Community Policing Team said the goal is to raise $10,000 for the Pediatric Oncology Unit.

“The ‘Cops 4 A-Cure’ event is about the community coming together for a great cause, which is to help others as they battle through their journey with cancer,” Gonzalez said. “Unfortunately, cancer effects everyone, since we have all had a family member, friend or a colleague that has been diagnosed. This is our opportunity to raise awareness and to help City of Hope with their mission of saving lives.”

Blood donation appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are welcomed.
