La Habra Police Officer Rich Kanger once again roared to the top of the competition taking home several honors at last week’s Orange County Police Motor Rodeo and Skills event that took place in Huntington Beach.
Kanger teamed up with two Irvine officers to take first place in the Multi-Agency category, which features Honda and BMW motorcycles.
Kanger also made it to the quarterfinals of the event’s Top Gun competition, placing fourth overall out of 70 plus riders. And since he is retiring in December, he was also honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Orange County Traffic Officers Association.
“It was my honor to present him with this award,” said La Habra Sgt. Jim Tigner. “Rich was one of the founding fathers of the OCTOA way back in the beginning of his career and actually organized some of the first competitions like this in OC. Rich is just a tremendous professional in everything he does. He is great rider of the police motorcycle with superior skills.”
Kanger thanked Sgt. Tigner and the La Habra PD for supporting his motorcycle career.

“I have worked a lot of assignments while employed with the city of La Habra, but being a motor has been the very best assignment hands down,” he said. “It is such a privilege to work with such fine officers. I take great pride in representing the La Habra Police Department every time I put on this uniform.”
