The Anaheim PD has linked a Whittier man arrested earlier this month for burglarizing a home in Anaheim Hills to six more residential burglaries in Anaheim Hills, four in Yorba Linda and an attempted burglary in Yorba Linda.
A “significant amount” of stolen property — mostly jewelry and coins — was found at the suspect’s home but has yet to be linked to any victims, the APD said in a news release late Wednesday, April 13.
Jonas McClanahan, 33, arrested April 5 for a residential burglary in Anaheim Hills on Jan. 4, 2016, is due in court Friday, April 15, at the North Justice Center in Fullerton to answer to charges of three counts of residential burglary and one count of possession of stolen property.
He is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail at Orange County Jail.
More charges are expected after Anaheim detectives, working with investigators from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department during the past week, linked McClanahan to the additional burglaries, according to the news release.
APD detectives and OCSD investigators were able to link McClanahan to the additional burglaries and attempted burglary when they found at his home April 5 tens of thousands of dollars of stolen property, much of it sports memorabilia.
All of the Anaheim Hills and Yorba Linda burglaries were reported between Jan. 1, 2016 and April 3, 2016.
McClanahan also has been linked to at least one residential burglary in Northern California, the news release said.
Anyone who believes he or she possibly is a victim of McClanahan’s crimes is encouraged to contact the detective assigned to their case. The handling detective will then coordinate a viewing of the recovered property with Anaheim Police personnel. Further, if anyone purchased items from, or was given items by McClanahan, there is a high likelihood the items are stolen. Anyone with such property is asked to contact the Anaheim Police Department at 714-765-1900.
