A Huntington Beach man died in a car crash Saturday in Garden Grove when the female driver lost control of the car and slammed into an electrical pole, shearing it in half, police said.
The Orange County Coroner on Sunday identified the victim as Carson Milligan IV, 34.
The driver, 31, of Stanton, was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. Garden Grove police have not released her name.
The single-vehicle crash happened at 3:10 p.m. Saturday on Valley View Street, south of Belgrave Avenue.
When Garden Grove PD officers arrived on the scene, they found a maroon 2007 Saturn Ion near the sheared power pole.
They determined that the driver had been traveling southbound on Valley View when she lost control, struck the curb and then hit the pole on the west side of the street.
The driver and passenger were removed from the car by Garden Grove Fire and transported to UCI Medical Center.
Milligan was pronounced dead at the hospital at 3:45, the coroner said in a news release.
The driver was treated for a broken leg and listed in stable condition.
The investigation into the crash continues.
