The 33-year-old man killed in a traffic collision Saturday morning was identified by police as Westminster resident Jose Rodriguez Peraza.
Police at about 6 a.m. Saturday responded to a traffic collision at Goldenwest Street and Hazard Avenue.
When police arrived, they found a Chevy Tahoe and a Toyota Corolla in the middle of the intersection, both heavily damaged in the crash.
Peraza, who was driving the Corolla, was pinned in the vehicle and had sustained serious injuries, police said.
The female driver of the Tahoe suffered minor injuries.
Both drivers were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Peraza died at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange about an hour after the accident, according to the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
Westminster police are investigating the cause of the collision and said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash. Investigators are looking into whether one of the drivers ran a red light.
