A 32-year-old man was arrested on several felony charges after leading police on a high-speed chase and crashing into several vehicles along the way.
Westminster police at about 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday responded to reports of a hit-and-run crash on Westminster Boulevard near Newland Street.
Police said the man driving a Ford Explorer rear-ended a minivan that was stopped in traffic. Two children in the minivan suffered minor injuries.
The suspect drove away, but officers located him driving eastbound on McFadden Avenue at Magnolia Street, police said.
The driver failed to stop, and led Westminster officers on a pursuit into Santa Ana.
High-speed and reckless driving forced the officers to stop their vehicle pursuit. They instead tracked the suspect with a police helicopter.
The suspect crashed his Explorer into four other vehicles during the pursuit in Santa Ana.
He crashed so many times his car eventually would not run, and police were able to arrest him.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of felony evading, felony hit and run with injuries and driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.
