OCSD: Man’s body found in trunk of sedan in Stanton

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department issued the following on Friday, with an update on Saturday:

Update: 

**Victim in Stanton homicide has been identified as Jeffrey Cheng, 31, of Irvine. He is the registered owner of the vehicle he was found inside. Homicide investigators are working diligently to identify a suspect. Call OCSD at 714-647-7000 if you have info.**

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a homicide in the city of Stanton.

Today at approximately 10 a.m. deputies were called to the 12000 block of Leafwood Street in the city of Stanton regarding a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle, a silver sedan, was parked along the curb on Leafwood. The vehicle’s driver side window was smashed and there was blood on the exterior. Upon examination of the vehicle, deputies discovered a deceased male adult in the trunk of the vehicle.

Homicide investigators responded to the scene and are working to identify the decedent. The Orange County Coroner will determine a preliminary cause and time of death. How the victim died, and if the death occurred at another location will be the primary questions investigators work to answer.
