The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is seeking additional potential victims of a home organizer accused of stealing items from three clients in south Orange County.
Erin Aaberg, 41, of Aliso Viejo, was arrested Thursday, Jan. 31, on suspicion of felony grand theft and was being held in lieu of $20,000 bail at Orange County Jail, according to a news release issued Friday, Feb. 1, by the OCSD.
Aaberg, who offered home organizational services, is scheduled to be arraigned today.
The first reported incident was in April 2018, when a victim reported the theft of a diamond
bracelet and gold pendant worth a combined $11,000-plus. Numerous contractors in addition to Aaberg had access to the victim’s home.
In January 2019, the victim found out through Facebook that Aaberg had been accused of theft by past clients, and relayed that information to the OCSD investigator assigned to her case.
The investigator found out that in December 2018, Aaberg had sold a gold pendant to a jewelry store in Mission Viejo. The victim positively identified the pendant as the piece of jewelry that was stolen from her home.
The investigator then reached out to additional victims who on Facebook had claimed Aaberg had stolen from them.
A second victim was identified, and said a ring was stolen in 2017 during the time Aaberg was working in her home.
Aaberg returned this victim’s ring because she thought there would be reward money given to her, according to the news release.
A third victim was also found. That victim hired Aaberg in January 2019 and noticed several gift cards were missing.
The third victim reviewed his surveillance footage and found that Aaberg had left the house with the gift cards. When he confronted Aaberg, she returned the gift cards.
The second and third victims did not report the crimes.
Investigators believe there are additional victims who haven’t previously reported past crimes. If you have additional information or believe you may have been a victim, contact Investigator Marshall at 949-206-6191 or kvmarshall@ocsd.org
