At the core of a police officer’s mission: protect and serve the community.

Last Thursday, about a dozen Fullerton officers spent the evening providing a different kind of service – raising money for charity.

During the annual Tip-A-Cop event at Heroes Bar & Grill, the police department raised $3,100 for the Special Olympics of Orange County. They also joined the athletes and mingled with restaurant guests.

“We enjoy every opportunity we can find to spend quality time with the community when we’re not responding to emergencies or enforcing the law,” said Sgt. Jeff Stuart. “It feels great to support such a worthy cause.”

Over the years, the police department has raised tens of thousands of dollars for the charity.
