Tustin police are looking for victims of a man suspected of using dating websites to lure women and defraud them out of large amounts of cash.
Several Orange County law enforcement agencies in 2014 received reports of a charlatan posing as a doctor who met women online and convinced them to invest in bogus stocks or donate to his fake African charity, police said.
The man — known to flash large amounts of cash and drive expensive cars to support the ruse — would promise long-term commitments to these women, get their payment and disappear, police said.
Police identified the suspect as Tohid Muhammad Alam and said he used the aliases Peter Kahn or Ali Kahn.
