On April 3, 2021 at approximately 9:10 am, Tustin Police Officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of El Camino Real regarding a possible domestic violence. Officers contacted the victim and confirmed he had been assaulted by the suspect.
The victim informed officers the suspect was destroying the room and he had weapons in his possession. Officers attempted to contact the suspect but he barricaded himself in the hotel room.
The surrounding rooms were evacuated. Both SWAT and the Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the scene.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect has been identified as Michael Angelo Gutierrez, a 40-year old resident of Long Beach, California.
There is no current threat to the public.
