A 22-year-old Santa Ana man was arrested by Westminster Police officers on suspicion of invasion of privacy while using a camera device on Feb. 12.
An officer was dispatched to the 7-Eleven store at 8491 Westminster Blvd. at about 7:40 p.m. following a call from a woman saying she was video recorded while using the restroom.
After an investigation, officers arrested 7-Eleven clerk Pablo Eduardo Nava Diaz, who was at the scene. According to police, a cell phone was used to video record the victim while she was in the restroom.
Following the incident, a video was posted on Facebook showing a 7-Eleven clerk being confronted on camera for allegedly recording a woman while she was using the bathroom. The Westminster PD confirmed the man in that video is Diaz. The video had reached 358,000 views as of 11:40 a.m. on Feb. 14.
“The victims in this case did the right thing in contacting law enforcement,” said WPD Public Information Officer Commander Cameron Knauerhaze. “The case is under investigation, and we will likely be seeking information on any additional victims.”
Knauerhaze said whether there are any additional victims is unknown at this time, and that Diaz was cooperative at the time of his arrest as well as during the investigation process.
Diaz was arrested for invasion of privacy and booked at Central Men’s Jail on an outstanding traffic warrant. His bail was set at $2,500
