Garden Grove police arrested Friday morning a man who used an unknown tool to smash through the front glass door of an AT&T store Monday and steal $3,000 worth of phones.

Timothy Emerson, 36, of Moreno Valley, was booked into Orange County Jail in Santa Ana on suspicion of commercial burglary following his 8:30 a.m. arrest April 1, the GGPD said in a news release.

Emerson first was arrested Friday morning by a Long Beach PD officer for an outstanding warrant. That officer recognized Emerson as a wanted burglar, based on a photo and crime bulletin released earlier this week by the GGPD.

Garden Grove investigators responded to interview Emerson and he admitted to the AT&T burglary, according to the news release. Emerson was wearing the same clothes in the burglary, police said.

No cellular phones were recovered from the burglary, the news release said. Also yet to be recovered, police said, is a 1994 white Buick Skylark captured on surveillance video in Monday’s break-in at the store at 12731 Brookhurst Way.

Emerson also has been linked to a burglary of a Sprint cell phone store in Fountain Valley on March 21, police said.
