Anaheim PD seek shooter who killed man on 91 Freeway

On July 14, 2014, at 8:09 p.m., Anaheim Police, the California Highway Patrol and Anaheim Fire & Rescue were called to investigate a possible shooting westbound on the 91 Freeway east of the 57 Freeway.

When emergency service personnel arrived, they found four people in a white Ford F-150 in the gore point of the westbound 91 Freeway at the 57 Freeway interchange. Two of the people in the Ford were found to have suffered injuries consistent with a gunshot. Agustin Villegas, 32, of Anaheim was the front passenger in the Ford and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Ford, a 40-year-old male, was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive. In the backseat of the Ford were two males 13 and 15 years old. These young men were uninjured and were taken to the Anaheim Police Department for interview.

The preliminary investigation revealed all the victims were related. Villegas was in the Ford driven by his cousin. The two young men in backseat were sons of Villegas and his cousin. There were traveling west on the 91 Freeway when the front window shattered from an apparent shooting. Villegas immediately slumped over and became unresponsive. The driver steered the Ford to the gore point and assisted his son in make a call to 9-1-1.

Initial reports indicated a possible suspect vehicle description of a black or dark Honda Accord. At this time, the information is unsubstantiated as the suspect(s) are unknown and unidentified. Villegas has no known criminal ties and is the solve provider for his family. The motive for the murder is unknown.

It is believed the homicide occurred just after 8 p.m., a time when traffic is prevalent on the freeway.
