Anaheim PD investigators are asking for the public’s help in finding whoever is responsible for a vehicle fire that likely was caused be an illegal firework.

Anaheim Fire & Rescue responded to a report of a residential structure fire at about 9:15 p.m. Dec. 26 in the 700 block of North Bush Street.

Arriving units discovered a vehicle in the driveway engulfed in flames.

About 15 firefighters from Anaheim Fire & Rescue and the Fullerton FD extinguished the fire in less than 10 minutes.

The vehicle was completely destroyed and the loss is estimated to be about $30,000, said Sgt. Daron Wyatt, Anaheim Fire & Police spokesman.

The fire also had spread to a wooden fence and the eaves of the residence but firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, minimizing the damage, Wyatt said.

Surveillance video obtained from a nearby residence shows an illegal firework landing in the driveway close to where the fire started.

Investigators suspect the illegal firework is the source of the blaze.

“Illegal fireworks are always a fire hazard, but in dry, windy weather conditions the danger is significantly increased,” Wyatt said.
