Bone Marrow Match Drive to be held for daughter of Anaheim Fire family

On Friday, June 23, Be The Match Registry® will host a bone marrow match drive for Sydney Stewart, the daughter of retired Anaheim Fire & Rescue Deputy Chief and current Disneyland Fire Chief Kevin Stewart.

Stewart, an athletic 20-year-old college student, was diagnosed with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis in April. She spent almost two months in the hospital with three separate life-threatening ICU admissions. A bone marrow transplant will help her recover, but finding a match can be difficult.

The Anaheim Fire family, in coordination with Anaheim Fire & Rescue and Be The Match Registry®, is asking Orange County communities to come out and be a donor and save a life. Donors must be between the ages of 10 and 40 years old.

The process is fast and simple, and includes a 10-second cheek swab. Stewart, who does need a donor, is also committed to helping get as many people registered into the Be The Match Registry® to help those in need.

When: Friday, June 23

Time: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Location: North Net Training Center, 2400 E. Orangewood Ave., Anaheim, CA 92801

Parking: Street parking on Towne Center Drive or Rampart. Vehicles parked in the surrounding office building lots will be subject to towing.
