BTBuzz: Police officer keeps prom promise to autistic teen

It’s not every day a teenage girl takes a police officer as a date to her senior prom, but Samantha Wadleigh did.

It all started when Jersey City Officer Sean Connors visited McNair Academic High School’s program for children with autism months ago and met Wadleigh, according to Pix11.com.

She went home later that day raving about Connors, and told her mom that she wanted to take him to prom.

The teen asked the officer said, “yes.”

Months went by, and Connors didn’t forget, so on May 27th he escorted Wadleigh to her senior prom–coordinating his bowtie with the color of her dress–and drove up in a police cruiser.

It was a night that neither Connors nor Wadleigh could ever forget.

“I was very, very lucky to be her date,” Connors told Pix11.
