BTBuzz: Slain officers in Palm Springs were veteran officer and mother of 4-month-old

The victims of the Palm Springs shooting on Saturday were Officer Jose “Gil” Vega, a 35-year veteran of the Palm Springs Police Department, who was due to retire in December, and Officer Lesley Zerebny, the mother of a 4-month-old who had just returned to her duties following a maternity leave.

In custody is suspect John Felix, 26, of Palm Springs.

A news conference is scheduled for this morning, Sunday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m.
