City of Westminster names Darin Lenyi new Chief of Police

WESTMINSTER, Calif. – The City of Westminster has announced Darin Lenyi as the Chief of Police.

Lenyi comes to the Westminster Police Department with more than 33 years of full-time sworn law enforcement experience. He has been the Chief of Police for the City of Placentia for the past five years.

“We are thrilled to welcome Chief Lenyi to Westminster,” said Mayor Tri Ta. “His experience and leadership will serve our community well.”

Lenyi is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and has been awarded two Medals of Courage, two Medals of Merit, the Distinguished Service Medal, and several ribbons over the course of his career. He is also a former president, vice president, and treasurer/secretary of the Orange County Chiefs of Police and Sheriffs Association.

“I am excited for this opportunity with the Westminster Police Department and look forward to getting to know the department and the community.”

“Chief Lenyi will be a huge asset for Westminster,” said Interim City Manager Christine Cordon. “His experience in Placentia and previous assignments make him an excellent fit to serve our unique community.”

Lenyi will begin his role as the Westminster Chief of Police on Nov. 1.
