Fatal traffic collision in Tustin

Fatal Traffic Collision

On Sunday, May 9, 2021, at approximately 11:50 a.m., Tustin Police Dispatch received 911 calls regarding a traffic collision in the area of Moffett Drive under the Jamboree overpass, involving a solo vehicle accident. When officers arrived, they found the vehicle and discovered the driver was unresponsive, there were no other occupants in the vehicle. Paramedics responded shortly thereafter and pronounced the driver deceased.

The preliminary investigation reveals the vehicle collided with the heavy guardrail on the side of the roadway, causing major front-end damage to the vehicle. At this time, it does not appear alcohol and drugs are a factor in the collision. The investigation is on-going and the cause of the accident is still being determined.

The deceased driver is a 67-year-old resident of Irvine. The driver’s name is being withheld until family can be notified.
