FPD responds to two-alarm fire that destroys tuxedo shop

Fullerton Police officers assisted with traffic and crowd control Wednesday after a two-alarm fire burned down a local tuxedo shop in the west end of Fullerton and sent black smoke billowing across the city.

The fire began about 7 p.m. at Allen’s Tuxedo shop in the 700 block of West Commonwealth and destroyed the facility and its contents.

It took some 50 firefighters from Fullerton, Brea, Anaheim, Orange And Orange County Fire Department to put out the blaze.

The cause of the fire, estimated to result in a $1.5 million loss, is under investigation. There were no injuries reported and nearby buildings were not damaged.
